At Long’d Fore Dachshunds the high standard of care and maintenance of our dogs and kennel is a priority. We love our dogs and what we do, but a lot of time and care goes into running a kennel. It’s a full-time job and expensive.
Take a Walk Around Our Dachshund Exercise Track:
Every day our dogs are played with ‘a lot’, exercised, fed and watered 3x, indoor/outdoor pens cleaned, laundry done and poo duty. Weekly, there is bathing, nail clipping, replenishing medical, wellness, and kennel supplies- i.e., buying quality food, bedding, blankets, toys, puppy pee pads. When needed- fence, property, dog runs and pasture maintenance repairs. Not to mention paying for water, electricity, heating and A/C.
Visits to the vet include exams, vaccines, flea control, worming, on occasion a c-section is needed to have a litter. Every litter is a 4-month project that includes- prepping & overseeing puppy births, health, development, socialization, also pampering nursing mothers till the pups are weaned and eating solid food. And we take weekly photos and videos of puppy progress that are sent to new owners. At 7 weeks, a visit to the vet for a health exam and 1st vaccines. AKC recommends releasing a puppy at 8 weeks of age for the best transfer and adjustment to their new home. The earliest a Puppy may be picked up is 8 weeks old. We also assemble a ‘New Puppy Instruction Kit’ with goodies, that goes with the puppy to its new family.
This is a functioning business -- we try meeting the needs of prospective puppy owners, have meet & greets, field calls and emails, answer questions, continually update our Website, Facebook, Instagram & Pinterest accounts, attend to Pet camera/wi-fi recording support and transact litter registrations and correspondence with the AKC (The American Kennel Club). This requires accurate documentation, record-keeping, filing and accounting.
Our pricing reflects all that goes into bringing you the robust, good-natured puppy you want. Our prices are FIRM.
We sell AKC registered, health guaranteed, miniature dachshunds as pets with limited registration, no breeding rights.
The buyer may want AKC limited registration with pedigree and paperwork. We will provide you with the form, but all AKC fees are paid by the buyer.
A SALES AGREEMENT CONTRACT must signed (or esigned) and dated, and will be adhered to.
Pricing and Deposits
We sell our male & female puppies as pets without/excluding breeding rights. Starting purchase price $2,000.00.*
We will not hold a puppy without a paid and verified deposit. Deposits cannot be verified nor processed without a signed or esigned Sales Agreement Contract.
Puppy purchase is offered first come, first choice.
A non-refundable 50% deposit of the total purchase price is required to establish a puppy hold, paid at the time the puppy is chosen to confirm purchase and finalized by signed or e-signed Sales Agreement Contract with attached AKC litter identification number.
A deposit receipt will be issued with the same AKC litter number ensuring that puppy is held for you. The deposit cannot be transferred to another dog and will be forfeited if for any reason you decide the buyer decides not to proceed with their puppy purchase, due to the time loss and cost involved in remarketing in order to find another buyer/owner.
We screen potential buyers. We have the right to place puppies and deny a sale at anytime at our discretion without giving a reason.
*A puppy considered first pick ('pick of the litter'), to have special markings, or be of show quality, is listed at a higher purchase price at the discretion of Long'd Fore Dachshunds.

Wait List
If you are on our wait list this is an agreement to contact regarding future litters, but does not guarantee the purchase of a puppy.
Signing up for our wait list grants you first contact, prior to the puppy being listed publicly for sale.
We do not pre-accept, nor hold deposits for future litters. A deposit may only be placed on an existing puppy with confirmed receipt, identified by signed or esigned Sales Agreement Contract with attached AKC litter identification number.
Shipping Requests
We do not ship puppies. We prefer in person pickup of a puppy.
If a buyer lives out of the area, it is up to them to arrange transportation, flights, and pay for airline puppy transport fees. The Puppy will fly in an approved airline carrier, in the cabin, under the seat ahead of you. There is absolutely no cargo hold transport of our puppies.
You must contact us for scheduling pickup dates. If you want us to meet you at Portland International Airport (PDX ) with the puppy, there is a $25.00 taxiing fee. The Purchase Agreement Contract will be signed in advance and returned to us ahead of your flight. Also full payment must be paid one week prior to the flight. If you want to make an arrangement for a flight Nanny, that is at your discretion. If there is a legitimate postponing of the flight we can discuss arrangements.
Requests for Breeding Rights
We realize how difficult it is to find a reputable breeder who gives breeding rights. If you are looking for breeding rights, we will discuss it with you. This is not a guarantee that you will receive any breeding rights. Our dogs pedigree and health is protected and carefully guarded. The price for breeding rights would be costly.

*Buyer agrees paid puppy deposit is non-refundable in the amount of 50% of the total purchase price and to sign or esign Sales Agreement Contract to reserve puppy as "sold" at time of signing. Buyer agrees deposit claim applies to signed/esigned puppy identified in Sales Agreement Contract and cannot be held or transferred at any time to a future purchase. Buyer agrees Long'd Fore Dachshund (and designated business/company owners) cannot be held responsible for Buyer's inability to complete payment of puppy purchase final balance and the forfeiture of Buyer's claim to puppy under deposit hold regardless of Buyer's stated reason for incomplete purchase and payment. Buyer agrees to forfeit 100% of their 50% deposit payment paid (all monies paid) in the event the puppy purchase does not finalize and/or Buyer does not or chooses not to proceed and complete puppy purchase with remaining final balance payment by the contracted due date. Long'd Fore Dachshunds will not be able to give a refund for any reason, including but not limited to negative financial changes on behalf of Buyer, medical emergencies or illness on behalf of Buyer, or any other causes beyond either party's control. Chargebacks attempted on behalf of the Buyer will be deemed invalid under contract and Buyer agrees an additional $100.00 fee will be due and payable to Long'd Fore Dachshunds to cover the costs and fees associated to any chargeback. Should Buyer require additional time for payment, a Sales Agreement Contract Addendum will be required and established between Long'd Fore Dachshunds and Buyer, at the sole discretion of Long'd Fore Dachshunds. Contracted puppy will not be released to Buyer's possession from Long'd Fore Dachshunds until the final balance has been paid in full.
